Provenance

  • Part of the Seymour Document Collection, donated to Knox College by George Seymour (1878-1945) and Flora Seymour (1888-1948).3
  • Donated to the College of Wooster by Dr. Amy Vandersall (Class of 1955, The College of Wooster), Alumni Weekend, 2010.1
  • Item donated to Knox College by Harriet Robbins Moses (1888-1973) of Salina, KS as part of a bequest through her estate in 1973. Moses graduated from Knox College in 1912. The name of a prior eighteenth-century English owner is found on a leaf from the same manuscript held at the Muskegon Museum of Art. It reads: "1744 Tom. Shep." Further down, another marginal notation in a similar ink but a different hand reads: "TOM TOM LORD." These notes perhaps refer to Thomas Sheppard of Lidcote (Buckinghamshire), who married in 1744 and whose son, also named Thomas Sheppard, became a baronet in 1809.1
  • Part of the John H. Haldeman Memorial Bible Collection. These items came to SBTS as part of the donation of the private collection of John H. Haldeman (1915-1990) and wife Virginia Bailey Haldeman made in December 1981.1
  • Purchased in London for the Muskegon Museum of Art by Robert B. Harshe. Accessioned 1/8/1926. Name of a prior eighteenth-century English owner found on recto of leaf: "1744 Tom.
