- Virginia Scovill, Ogden Dunes resident, obtained her undergraduate degree from Indiana University Northwest in Gary. IU Northwest honors one student each year with the Virginia Scovill Award for excellence in psychology. Virginia Scovill was a member of the Save the Dunes organization that played a significant role in preserving large tracts of the Indiana Dunes as the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.
