- The IU Archives made inquiries into what the "M" stands for in the logo. Replies received were: 1) that is stood for "Mechanics", and 2) that it stood for the "Missouri" chapter. Documentation for either of these theories could not be found, but the logo itself is clearly that of the corporate name noted below.
